As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I am available to do home visits following delivery to assist with initiating and supporting breastfeeding and to facilitate a smooth postpartum recovery. Breastfeeding, skin-to-skin contact and early bonding increase oxytocin flow and promote positive maternal child attachment decreasing baby blues and PMADs.
If you intend to breastfeed and it isn’t going as planned do not give up!! Although exclusive breastfeeding/breastmilk until the baby is six months old is the gold standard as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization, I always say, “There is the ideal world and there is the real world.” I say, keep it real. Remember: some breastmilk is better than no breastmilk. Together we can troubleshoot complications and barriers to breastfeeding, positioning and latch, and milk production issues. We can work together to negotiate a plan for feeding your baby, ensuring your baby is growing and thriving and you have peace of mind and body. There is no one right way to mother, only the way that works for you and your baby.
I do not provide ongoing postpartum doula services which may include cooking, cleaning, overnights etc. I can refer you out for those valuable services as needed.
