I can help you make decisions around conception and pre-birth planning, provide guidance in choosing the birthing environment that right’s for you or the practitioner, and give you emotional support throughout.
Pregnancy and birth can trigger mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). They can surface in labor and delay birth causing a long or difficult delivery… or they can exacerbate the experience of pain. Anxiety and fear can also do the opposite – cause a preterm labor experience. What’s more, fear, pain, and sadness can affect the unborn fetus, as well as the mother’s ability to bond with her newborn, breastfeed and even parent in years to come. With motivational interviewing, reflective listening and support, I can help you identify unresolved issues that can affect your labor and your relationship with your baby. Then, through creative arts therapy, guided imagery, meditation, affirmations and other exercises, I will work with you to create a practice of mindfulness to help you work through those issues and feel freer – and more present, during pregnancy, labor and mothering.
